Our Journey: A Timeline of Growth and Impact

Brigid’s House of Hope was born from a statewide initiative starting in 2012 to address human trafficking in New Hampshire, leading to the formation of the New Hampshire Human Trafficking Collaborative Task Force. By 2016, aided by Department of Justice funding, the Task Force expanded, underscoring the urgent need for long-term safe housing for survivors. Inspired to fill this void, Bethany Cottrell spearheaded the creation of Brigid’s House of Hope in early 2018.

By October 2018, we launched our awareness and fundraising efforts, officially becoming a nonprofit in March 2019. Our mission and work have since been recognized in prominent local media and at major summits, highlighting our rapid emergence as a key player in the fight against human trafficking, with a steadfast focus on providing survivors with the support and housing they critically need.

In early 2025, we made the decision to transition from a focus on residential care via a safe house program to community-based support for survivors via our rental assistance program. Read our public statement.
